Our Story: A Legacy of Care in Bethlehem, PA
A Foundation of Compassion
Our story began in 1991 with our founder, Nan Van Gieson. After her own experiences caring for her parents, Nan committed herself to providing compassionate, reliable home care for families across the Lehigh Valley. Her work with the Red Cross and as Director of Elderwell set a high bar for excellence that I am proud to uphold today.
My Mother’s Journey: From Caregiver to Owner
Nan eventually entrusted the agency to my mother, Wellope (Wella) Williams. My mother didn’t start in an office; she earned her way there. She began on the front lines as a Direct Care Worker in 1995, moved into the office to coordinate care, and took over as sole owner in 2001. With her 35-year medical background in physical therapy, pulmonary medicine, and dementia care, she transformed The Caring Connection into the 5-star resource it is today.
My Personal Commitment to You
I grew up seeing the profound impact Nan and my mother had on our neighbors. To truly understand the heart of our mission, I followed in my mother’s footsteps—spending my first years with the agency as a Direct Care Worker and visiting clients in their homes to gain first-hand experience.
After managing our operations for the past 10 years, I am honored to lead the next chapter of our family legacy. Providing this level of trusted in-home care is made possible by our dedicated office team, Barb and Gretchen, along with our compassionate Direct Care Workers who care for families throughout our community.
We aren’t a national franchise managed from a distant boardroom—we are your neighbors. When you call us, you are speaking with the same local family that has proudly served Northampton County for more than 30 years.
